In the Plogg wireless energy management range, we believe we have the most advanced smart metering products on the market today. However, the technology within Plogg has the potential for a wider range of applications.
For example, funded by our Regional Development Agency in the UK, we are developing a standalone home energy management system that uses sensor inputs to activate intelligent load management. We are also working on a secure two-way data communications system that will make energy supply and demand data visible to the supplier, the consumer and any intermediaries (e.g. energy management service providers) via a web browser interface.
We have started an EC funded project to develop an innovative distributed power management system for the Smart Grid. This system will store power accessible from local sources when demand on the grid is low so that it can be used later — allowing local appliances to be disconnected from the grid — when demand is high.
Alongside such nationally and regionally funded programmes, we are keen to build collaborative relationships with researchers, system integrators and product developers, both in academia and in industry, to conceive and develop new ways of using our Plogg technology for the benefit of individuals and the community. In such cases we are happy provide the API (application programming interface), software support for application development and, where appropriate, to quote for custom development support.
We are currently working with universities and research institutes around the world, examples of which are MiDDaS , University of Southampton and ETH Cudrefin2 project.
